The Gemini Blue Bulletin

"A Weekly Communication from Teachers to Families for School Success"

January 24, 2012

Math – Ms. Burgess: The Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue classes will take a test tomorrow on chapter 6. Then, they will move on to a mini-unit on Inequalities. The Orange class will continue to work with Ratios, Percents, and Proportions. The first Math Learning Log of the term is due next Wednesday, 2/1. Have a fabulous week! J

Reading – Mrs. Jitiam: Strategic reading- Welcome to third term. Students are learning to embed information properly into their writing pieces. This will lead to writing a persuasive essay supported by research.

Geography – Mr. Wolf:  Last week we wrapped up with a country and geographical feature quiz. This week we are continuing to explore the Middle East. We will focus on how the geography affects cultures and people within this region.

English – Mrs. Rezendes:  This week we will continue to read and analyze The Misfits. Students will have their second MCAS-style quiz on the book on Thursday. In addition, there will be a vocabulary quiz tomorrow.

Science – Mrs. Yule:  The students have done a wonderful job stepping through the Earth and Space unit review with their story books. There will be a traditional study guide handed out Tuesday for homework, then a Jeopardy review. The final unit test will be Friday. Since this is an MCAS style test, the emphasis is on big picture concepts rather than specific facts. The best way to prepare is to talk about what causes the phases of the moon, eclipses, and changes on earth's surface. Have a great week!
